Hello, and welcome to Mercer. I'm Marc Cordover, and I lead Mercer's US investments and retirement practice. At Mercer, we're committed to helping our clients face the challenges of an evolving economic environment. We accomplish this by drawing on the expertise of over 2,600 investment and retirement professionals serving our US clients and the deep knowledge of 80,000 plus colleagues that are part of Marsh McLennan's businesses around the world. But first, a quick introduction to Mercer.
We deliver advice and solutions that help organizations redefine the world of work, reshape and help secure successful retirement and investment outcomes, and unlock health and well-being for a changing workforce. We bring depth of expertise to help make your organization's programs more competitive and resilient, and navigate a volatile business environment as you face a range of socioeconomic issues. We bring together experts from our global businesses, Marsh, Guy Carpenter, or Oliver Wyman, to deliver the best of our consulting and risk services to the marketplace.
More than 75 years ago, Mercer began as a benefits consultant to large employers, and that emphasis continues to shape the work we do in four core practice segments. Number one, defined benefit and defined contribution plans. Number two, not-for-profit healthcare, endowments, and foundations. Number three, wealth management. And number four, insurance.
No one knows your industry and business better than you do. Our goal is to come to the table prepared to listen and engage with you so that we can bring the best advice and tools to apply to your unique situations, mission, and priorities.
We put you, our clients, at the core of all we do. Putting clients first means figuring out what your organization wants to accomplish, then we use the most relevant information about your situation and the markets to share our point of view, whether it's about market opportunities and risks, governance around liabilities and asset allocation, or the various strategies that can be implemented at many points along the cycle.
We offer full solution flexibility. Pension fund and retirement sponsors rely on us for a range of investment solutions and governance models. From research and advice to full investment outsourcing, as well as help with managing the pension journey, actuarial work, and plan administration support. Not-for-profit organizations can confidently pursue their missions while accessing a broad array of asset solutions, from global investment research and advice to ESG investing focused on values alignment to alternatives.
We partner with charities, foundations, and healthcare organizations with our best investment advice and solutions because we care deeply about their missions and people that are impacted by their work. Finally, for wealth managers and insurers, we offer deep industry expertise and quality advice to address ever increasing complexity and rising demand for thoughtful forward-looking ideas and cost-effective solutions.
One of Mercer's core competencies garnering great interest is alternative investments. We partner with clients interested in specialized alternative expertise on a standalone basis or as part of a broader program to deliver insightful research, customized advice, and/or tailored investment solutions to help them pursue desired outcomes. This is just one example of how Mercer aligns with what clients want to do with a carefully considered strategy.
However, the best strategy is irrelevant if it's not executed well. You need a solutions provider that leverages global investment capabilities and works with all of your stakeholders, encouraging close collaboration and shared best ideas. For example, if your organization lacks the internal resources or needs to tap specialize investment expertise for RSA plans, defined benefit, or defined contribution retirement plans, we can act as a 321 non-discretionary investment advisor, referred to as advice.
We offer Outsourced CIO capabilities, also referred to as OCIO, serve as a 338 investment plan fiduciary, referred to as delegation. We can take our services even one step further for defined contribution plans under our Mercer Wise 401(k) plan or Mercer Wise Pooled Employer plan by providing administration as part of our service for full oversight and delegation of your plan. For non-RSA plans, we offer the same spectrum of services from tools to advice to OCIO.
Propelled directly by our clients' evolving needs, we have grown our investment and retirement business to meet a wide range of requirements, from project-based advice when you need it, to on-going consulting on a retainer basis, or full delegation of the governance operations implementation of the investment aspects of managing your asset program.
And what's really great about Mercer's client first approach is that you and your team are never locked into an irreversible cookie-cutter approach. With full solution flexibility, you can use our research and technology if your organization wants to make its own investment decisions, or rely on our advice for shared governance, or fully outsource your investments or administration to Mercer. Better yet, you choose how you want to work with us and evolve your options as your needs change over time.
Please contact your Mercer consultant if you'd like to learn more. We want to help you achieve your goals by delivering an enhanced experience for you and greater value for your organization, colleagues, and the communities they serve. We can't wait to hear from you.
